Nursing home KO-RA

Javornik Manor in Ravne na Koroškem had been dilapidated for many years without any real substance. The last owners demolished all the outbuildings next to it. Five years ago, the municipality found the right owner and proposed a retirement home programme next to the mansion. The KO-RA Senior Citizens’ Centre is a modern multi-purpose facility for day care, temporary and permanent accommodation for the elderly. It is opening its new premises for intergenerational networking and local community involvement. A new wooden building has been added to the mansion to create an inner courtyard between them for all residents and visitors. Like the ground floor of the mansion, the indoor multi-purpose space opens to the west with beautiful views of the town and Peca in the background. The new building is made of wood and follows the principles of sustainable construction. The mansion will in future house a café and a library showcasing the important archaeological finds of the area, including the oldest millet in Slovenia.
