About us
Open House Slovenia (OHS) is a contemporary Slovenian architecture platform and the largest architecture festival in Slovenia. Our mission is to raise awareness of the values of quality designed space and to improve living culture, as well as spatial literacy. We connect professionals with the general public and provide personal experience of outstanding Slovenian architecture.
Every year, we organise the largest architecture festival in the country, Open House Slovenia, which allows architecture enthusiasts and members of the public to visit architectural projects across the country free of charge. The aim of the festival is to present examples of the best practices of contemporary Slovenian architectural production and important cultural heritage as part of Slovenian culture and national identity. The OHS Festival is an annual three-day event that showcases over 80 architectural projects and open spaces, selected by an expert jury and viewed by visitors under the expert guidance of architects, investors, users and experts who have significantly contributed to the success of the project.
The Open House Slovenia Festival is part of the international Open House Worldwide network and a partner in the European cooperation project Open House Europe, co-funded by the European Union.
Since 2013, the OHS Festival has been organised by Afront, Institute for spatial innovation, a non-governmental organisation that has been working for over ten years in the field of culture, popularising architecture and architectural heritage, and raising awareness of the importance of well-designed spaces in improving the quality of life. In addition to the OHS Festival, we manage the OHS online platform, organise cultural events and architectural exhibitions, run the Invisible Houses project and record the podcast Odprto (Eng. Open).
