A House Beyond the Noise

A young family of three needed more space, so they seized the opportunity to purchase a plot next to a noisy roundabout. Instead of resisting the surroundings, the house is designed as a protective volume that opens up to a peaceful inner courtyard, shielded from the road noise. The house fully opens to this space – towards the sun, views of the nearby rooftops, and a more tranquil atmosphere.

The floor plan follows a clear and simple logic. A generous carport, integrated beneath the main roof, also marks the entrance. From there, the space opens into a spacious living area, complemented by a small gallery above. This is followed by the sleeping quarters, with a duplex children’s room and a master bedroom, separated by a bathroom.

All primary spaces turn away from the noise and orient themselves toward the courtyard, which also includes a covered terrace. Life unfolds on this inner side—protected, open, and quietly connected to its surroundings.

By keeping the house low, only the distinctive roof shape rises above the existing wall that separates the plot from the road—subtly hinting at the calm world beyond.
