Opera house renovation and annex
The annex to, and the renovation of, the old Opera and Ballet building were aimed at improving rehearsal and audience facilities, as well as the stage. The neoclassical building maintained the image of the old Opera, while its contemporary annex clearly shows the difference in time and function. The stage was enlarged and the acoustics improved. The rehearsal rooms are arranged in modern, naturally lit spaces. All visitors’ spaces remained in the old part, which preserved an authentic theater atmosphere. The two entrance atriums and spaces for socializing are located below the auditorium.
