Swimming pool complex Radovljica, 1st phase
The swimming pool complex, designed by architect Vurnik, was built in 1933 as an excellent example of functionalism. Already after thirty years from the beginning of use, essential alterations began, with which all the key elements of the original design were lost. In 2011 planning began for the reconstruction of the complex for year-round use, an additional indoor learning pool and the possibility of construction in separate phases. The architectural design is based on the preservation of the original concept of a single longitudinal complex at the foot of Obla Gorica hill, with a vertical emphasis on the tower, which in its new function serves as a lookout point and starting platform for water slides. First phase of the construction deals with the part of the complex south of the Olympic pool.
