Apartment in Štefanova
The Dukič apartment blocks were built in 1935 by architect Jože Sivec. Three free-standing blocks define the edge of the Slovenian Reformation Park and form the street corner of Štefanova and Župančičeva streets. Reinforced concrete skeletal structure, made of columns, core and ribbed ceilings is filled in by brick walls. These spatious apartments were originally intended for civil servants. Our renovation of the apartment focuses on rearrangment of the floor plan, opened in both transverse and longitudinal directions. The authors preserved original fixtures (windows, doors and the glazed living room door ) and balcony railings. Exposed ribbed concrete ceiling runs throughout the apartment creating an unified narrative ambience. New grey volumes hide the service spaces. As a tribute to the marble stone cladding of the entrance lobby, stone panels were used for a part of the apartment’s furnishings.
The project is located in Ljubljana.
