Cultural Centre Stara Fužina

The revitalisation project of the Cultural Centre included the complete renovation of the multi-purpose hall, the creation of a museum and memorial room dedicated to Valentin Hodnik, the establishment of a coworking space, and the refurbishment of facilities for the local community and associations. The exterior renovation introduced a covered stage, a new entrance to the local shop, an ATM area, and a sheltered gathering space, complementing the transformation of the village square into a vibrant social and cultural hub.

The architectural design is rooted in respect for local heritage and sustainable principles. A façade made of specially charred spruce wood, together with elements for local plants and bird habitats, connects traditional architectural motifs with the biodiversity of the Bohinj region, while wood remains the defining material throughout the interior.

Today, the renovated building serves as a contemporary community centre for residents, visitors, and tourists alike. Through its new programmes and carefully designed public spaces, it makes a significant contribution to the social, cultural, and economic life of the village.
