Velenje Castle: Revitalization of the Castle Hill, Arrangement of the Castle Park: Phase 1
As part of the HIstorical CAstle ParkS (HICAPS) EU project, the Municipality of Velenje has implemented the first phase of the renovation of the Velenje Castle Park: the upper parterre (used as a parking lot for decades). The retaining wall with a new fence, landscaped trails, greenery and flower beds, new urban equipment, haptic maps and a fountain were erected. The intervention was carried out in cooperation with Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage. Professional renovations of castle parks are very rare in Slovenia.
