Finžgar’s Villa
Finžgar’s Villa was built in 1934 according to the plans of engineer Anton Suhadolc. The building was commissioned by the writer Fran Saleški Finžgar, who spent his last years there. The Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts repurposed the building for its needs. Part of the ground floor facing the street serves as an exhibition space featuring the collection of Janez Jager, Slovenian urban planner. On the first floor, this section includes a multipurpose room for small events, while the remaining spaces have been converted into several small apartments for visiting professors. The renovation of the building has preserved as much as possible the original architectural design, with architectural elements and details in the interior and on the façade.
