Dr. Juvan’s villa

The neoclassical villa of Maribor’s first mayor, Dr Alojzij Juvan, has been renovated by Styria arhitektura for the purpose of office space for an IT company. The villa was designed by Maks Czeike, an architect of German and Czech roots whose work was a significant influence on interwar Maribor. The building’s new programme called for a thorough renovation, including earthquake and energy rehabilitation. In cooperation with the conservation service, the villa’s original exterior and interior staircase were fully preserved. The new floor plan removed the partition walls and brought light into the rooms. Glass membranes articulate the interior into an open and airy space.
