Arena Janina

Arena Janina is located between a historic park and forested slopes of Janina Mountain, where culture, recreation, and nature meet. It becomes a bond between the town, woodland paths and the ski slope. This wooden pavilion-in-the-park hosts concerts and gatherings. Its harmonious rectangular form, framed by light arcade, blurs the boundary between architecture and landscape. The canopy shelters, but also connects, weaving separate functions into whole. The core of the building is an elevated roofed stage, surrounded by supporting spaces: backstage, ski-club, info-point, public toilets, storage. Fully glazed day-use areas open to surroundings, while service spaces are clad in timber façades and ground the building in tactile materialisation. Vertical stage accent with framed opening captures sky and landscape behind performers, transforming each event into a dialogue with nature. Constructed mainly from larch, spruce, and poplar, the pavilion celebrates structural and atmospheric potential of timber. Both restrained and monumental, it offers a flexible landmark where cultural heritage, sport activities, contemporary performances, and nature converge.

Arena Janina is located near Rogaška Slatina.
