James Joyce Apartment

The renovation of a summer residence in the style of “la dolce vita”. The apartment is named after the writer James Joyce, who became famous during his stay in this square. He resided in the same block and on the same floor. The apartment is located in a multi-family building from 1900 and includes the only balcony in the building, which the owner humorously calls Juliet’s balcony. The apartment features thick walls, characteristic of prestigious buildings from that era. After a thorough renovation, architect Andreja Medvedić furnished it in her unique “la dolce vita” style, incorporating a mix of gold, turquoise, and silver, along with new designer furniture pieces.

The apartment features three interconnected salons with open doors and high ceilings, creating a sense of space. The kitchen is separated and designed for breakfasts, while one of the salons is used for dinners. The wardrobes are hidden in the hallway and utility room. The furniture is modern, with rich mirrors, paintings, and reproductions, including works by Maurits Cornelis Escher. Blue is highlighted in the upholstered shell-shaped armchair that stands out in the space. The apartment, with its balcony and view, offers a comfortable space for spending free time, where elegance blends with a modern touch.

The apartment is located in Trieste, Italy.
