Garibaldi Apartment
The renovation of an old town apartment in Trieste, with a renovated façade and an emphasis on balustrades, takes the visitor through historical elements from the early 20th century. The apartment, designed by architect Andreja Medvedić, exudes modern elegance of the 21st century. The original floor plan has been preserved, separating the kitchen, bathroom, and toilet, while the spaces are connected with simple elegance and practical solutions, such as open doors and a discreet utility room.
The interior is enriched with shades of blue, which dominate the furnishings, from the sofa to the cushions. The blue color harmoniously connects with the artworks on the walls and the maritime motifs. The bathroom stands out with tiles mimicking the texture of stones, creating the feeling of a stone cave, enhanced by large round mirrors. Given Trieste’s coastal location, the architect chose a blue palette that reflects the infinity of the sky and sea. Colours play a key role, as the walls are painted in warm shades of pink, cream, and light brown, changing depending on the light. This neutral background emphasizes the furnishings and white plaster mouldings. The renovation has illuminated what was once a dark apartment, creating a pleasant, modern space that invites living.
