9 frames – renovation of the entrance hall of Poljane High School

The renovation of the entrance hall of Poljane High School, founded in 1889, emphasized the qualities of the existing historic building. The original wall and ceiling stucco ornaments were preserved, as well as the skilfully made columns placed on a symmetrical axis linking the small square in front of the building, the entrance hall and the central staircase. The renovated hall now features an elevated concrete podium with nine steel frames of different sizes and transparent glazing, allowing an open view towards the staircase. Elegant black geometrical shapes in white historic wraps resemble an abstract art exhibit, which encourages spatial manipulation and can be used for school exhibitions. The podium accentuates the symmetrical axis and offers a seating space used during school breaks and exhibitions. A big round minimalistically designed light illuminates the historic stucco ceiling, which adds to the solemn character of the hall.
