Thalasso Spa at the Sečovlje Saltpans

The spatial concept of the spa follows the traditional features of salt pans landscape. Wood was chosen as primary building material for its ecological and sustainable value, as well as for its aesthetics and tradition. Wooden paths link simple cottages reminiscent of toolsheds used in salt pans. They host a reception, changing rooms, doctor’s offices, toilets, a bar, the pool machine room, and other service facilities. The centre of the complex consists of a swimming pool with sea water, pools for Kneipp therapy and small pools for brine therapy. The spa is surrounded by a fence made of hundreds of wooden pillars which separate the complex from the sea.
