Social Housing Rakova jelša II
The new neighbourhood Rakova jelša II reproduces the existing morphology of the area and its context with long rows of low-rise apartment buildings, reminiscent of terraced houses with gardens in the centre. The simple design is enhanced by a public programme and a multifunctional community space on the ground floor. The so-called building C acts as a link between the new neighbourhood and the existing houses. Its refined form of double gable roofs is a metaphor for the surrounding, typically condensed housing. Between the street and the neighbourhood, an open public space is created, defined by a square divided into two parts. In front of building C there is a square next to the residential building with a lime tree, which acts as a venue for various events and offers parking space for the library bus. The whole area thus becomes a meeting place for all generations and establishes a new centre of Rakova jelša.
