Revitalization in Jesenice with city market

The renewal of the iron industry area implies the realization of the manifest of a local group of activists who between 1999 and 2004 warned of the short-sightedness of demolishing the old ironworks. The goal of the project is to establish a public space that preserves and builds up the identity of the city and offers a higher standard of urban lifestyle. The city market is to become the heart of the whole area and together with the facility of the former lye plant facilitates the establishment of new social interactions. The renewal is seen in industrial aesthetics, which preserves the original appearance of the buildings and adds new prefabricated metal elements, which co-create a unique ambience, just like once the machines in the factory did.
