Renovation of chapels at Mengeš cemetery

The chapels at Mengeš cemetery were designed in 1974 by architect Branko Rebek (1932 – 1986) and statics expert Matjaž Karlovšek. Brutalist-style chapels feature a distinct roof resembling the firmament. Previous renovations included functional repairs with no attempt at preserving the original architecture, which was almost lost under several layers of plaster. The renovation in 2015 uncovered the raw cement walls and included a limited interior renewal to emphasize the original appearance of the building.
