Museum of modern art Ljubljana

The Museum of Modern Art is an example of a private-public partnership from the 1930s. The project was financed with a support of the inheritance of Dragotin Hribar, a local manufacturer. Architect Edvard Ravnikar drew several plans for the building – initially in Plečnik’s school and under Plečnik’s mentorship, later independently. The Museum of Modern Art is Ravnikar’s early work. Just before construction, he visited Le Corbusier’s studio in Paris, so it reflects both Plečnik’s and Le Corbusier’s influence, which he upgraded with his own poetics.

A guided tour will be conducted by architect Andrej Hrausky.
