House with apartments Bohinjska Bistrica
The single-family house with apartments stands in a protected area and is a sustainable modern interpretation of indigenous architecture. Due to the use of natural resources and adaptation to the views, the basic floor plan is fragmented into four smaller volumes, which are rotated by 45°, while a single elongated roof volume connects them into a complete whole. The construction is a rational combination of reinforced concrete and wooden structure according to the sustainable principle of “less is more”, which continues the tradition of folk architecture and exploits the accumulation of heat in solid construction and the rapid response of wood. This materiality is visible in the interior as well as in the exterior: the material expresses the construction, and the construction an idea inspired by the local village barns.
