House 1624
House 1624 is located just a stone’s throw from the Austrian border, on the slopes of Slovenske gorice. It is a family farm of well-known Styrian winemakers, who decided to revive a listed building from the beginning of the 17th century with late-Renaissance details. The renovated building now houses a new tourist programme, which includes accommodation, wellness and an accompanying wine programme. This is based on the original content of the historic building. The goal of the renovation was to preserve the existing building in its authentic appearance and to connect it seamlessly and discreetly with a modern low extension that does not interfere with the facade of the historic building. It is located on the south side of the existing building and features a facade made of earth-colored panels. In this way, it blends in with the surroundings, the panoramic windows offer excellent views of the surrounding vineyards and act as a counterpoint to the smaller historic windows of the existing wine storage shed.
