Sports Hall Trzin
For many years, Trzin Primary School had been struggling to organise sports education, so the decision was taken to build a new sports hall with three large and two auxiliary practice rooms. The two larger training rooms can be combined into a single training area by raising two soft partitions, which meets the conditions for a regular handball court of 40 x 20 m with a height of 9 m. The hall can accommodate up to 600 spectators in total on fixed and movable stands, making it suitable for national level matches. The connection to the existing primary school is via a heated corridor. The orientation of the glass surfaces is predominantly west-south and a wide range of natural materials are used on the building, which is why the investor successfully obtained the maximum amount of funding from Ekosklad for the facility.
The primary load-bearing structure of the building is made of solid cross-laminated timber panels, and for the individual segments a skeletal structural system was chosen. The roof structure of the building is made of 30 m long glulam beams and the thermal envelope of the building consists of layers of blown cellulose and wood fibre panels. Heat recovery ventilation is provided throughout the building and central heating is provided by an air-to-water heat pump linked to a central control system with energy consumption monitoring.
