Renovation of Tea Shop Cha

The renovation of the Tea House in Ljubljana stems from the desire of adapting the interior to new spatial requirements. The main element of the design are free-standing cabinets with displayed teapots and accessories, based on a grid that can be changed at will. The basic guideline in the design was to preserve and interfere as little as possible with the existing floor, walls and ceiling. A vaulted ceiling with a preserved wall painting reveals the story of the past, complemented by a renovated floor in the gallery with a redesigned existing fence. The cabinets are designed with the idea of building, assembling or stacking of simple elements. All contacts are visible and emphasized, which links the interior to the architecture and tradition of the homeland of tea – China and Japan.
