House Ledinica
A new single-family home in the beautiful old hamlet of Ledinica near Žiri. In the identity-preserved building fabric, the architects carefully placed a small, low gabled house with large, oblique overhangs which flirt with modernity, but in fact relate to the sloping floor plan. The traditional architectural element of the region – the ‘offset entrance’ – is played with twice; cuts in a rectangular volume occur in the north at the entrance and in the south behind the covered terrace. The louvres provide just the right protection from the sun and the rain and allow living on the border between outside and inside. The concrete tile roofing, dark window frames and light plaster relate to the old adjacent buildings, while the interior feels airy and modern despite restrained square footage. Executed by local builders, craftsmen and DIY. An incredible price-performance ratio.
