Hedonistic attic

How to design a shared social space in the attic of a family holiday home from the 1970s? Clients wanted lots of storage shelves, a lounge and a small spa. The architect researched the relationships between the typical slope of the attic, volumes, colours and light. By placing the volumes of the fireplace, cupboards, sauna, spa and bathroom, she created boundaries between the open common space and the intimate space of the spa. The cubic volumes on the perimeter feature ambient lights for a sense of limitlessness, which is often a problem with attics.

The project is located in Mokronog in Dolenjska region.
