Extension to a family home

This visually unified extension is a contrast to the classic image of the old house, but they form together a coherent whole. Designing a new extension facade bears a strong visual notion using a virtual stone monolith and a transparent wooden part, which respond to the internal functions. The elongated design harmonises the conditions on the site. The ground floor grandparents’ apartment faces the garden, while the two-level apartment on the first floor connects the extension and the old house. The rooms open onto small intimate terraces.
