Hotel Julian Alps

Julian Alps Hotel in Zgornje Gorje was created through the comprehensive renovation of a more than 200-year-old listed building. The former outbuilding and large barn, once part of one of the largest farms in the village and the surrounding area, have been given a new life as a boutique hotel. Completed in 2025, the renovation adapts the historic building fabric to its new use while preserving and re-emphasising the characteristic elements of the existing structure. An important starting point for the renovation was finding a balance between preserving the building’s heritage and meeting the contemporary requirements of a hotel programme. Among the preserved features are the original timber ceiling and the vaulted spaces, which now accommodate the hotel restaurant. Throughout the interior, the building’s historic layers meet contemporary interventions and furnishings, complemented by a collection of works by international artists. The building accommodates 15 individually designed guest rooms, a restaurant and a small wellness area with a sauna. The renovation enables the historic building to serve a contemporary use while preserving its distinctive architectural layers and historic character.
