Hidden Corners of the Former Cistercian Monastery Kostanjevica na Krki

The former Cistercian monastery, founded in the 13th century, represents an outstanding example of medieval monastic architecture that has been expanded, transformed, and adapted over the centuries to new social and cultural functions. Today, the complex lives on as an important art and exhibition centre where heritage, contemporary art, and museum activities intertwine. The restoration of the former monastery complex has been carried out successively since the 1950s, with further restoration works expected to continue soon within the framework of Natura 2000.
