Grammar school Črnomelj

The Loka Primary School stands on the site of former school, which was destroyed by hail nearly a decade ago. Designed as a dynamic, pavilion-like structure, the school combines a compact, energy-efficient layout with interconnected spaces that create an engaging learning environment. These spaces – such as interior streets, squares, and a school promenade – encourage interaction and movement. Classrooms are arranged in clusters around a “learning landscape,” fostering collaboration and flexible teaching methods. Large “classroom shop windows” enhance the connection between indoor learning spaces and the surrounding park. At the entrance, the gym extends onto a glazed platform, visually linking the school with the city. This platform serves as a key transitional space, seamlessly connecting the park in the rear with the urban street frontage. The result is an extraordinary school setting: a contemporary learning environment nestled within a lush park, surrounded by towering trees.
