Damir Feigel Library – National and University Library
The National and Study Library is located in Fabiani’s Trgovski dom (Chamber of Commerce). The most effective »tool« for appropriate dialogue with the building that serves the needs of everyday life in the city are large windows, while the exceptional height of interior space allows the installation of a platform in response to the demand for a larger and spatially differentiated area. The library is designed as a “flannel” on different floors and with custom-designed spaces for every need, from stimulation of dialogue at the entrance, to more classic study spaces above. The mezzanine in the entrance hall also includes a circular element which highlights the connection with the corner dome on the roof – an urban announcement of the presence of the palace on the main city street.
