New extension of the Valvasor library Krško
The extension of the library of the former monastery came to life in a new architectural creation and now forms a new whole with the library. The immediate proximity of the park inspired the architecture, which rolls towards the park, only maintaining a straight line along the monastery wall. The interior is pierced by a glazed atrium that illuminates it. The undulating south facade is interspersed by a colonnade of tall windows, like books on a bookshelf – with some of their backs turned up and some down. This playfulness of the facade is a reminder of the rhythm of the arches and columns in the monastery. The annex becomes a functional extension of the existing library.
