Vizije so 20: Pozor! Vroča točka! (Visions Are 20: Watch Out! Hot Spot!)

Društvo arhitektov Ljubljana (Ljubljana Architects’ Association) invites you to the exhibition Vizije so 20: Pozor! Vroča točka! (Visions Are 20: Watch Out! Hot Spot!) The exhibition will be on display at Galerija Kresija from 23 October to 13 November 2025. The opening will take place on Thursday, 23 October 2025, at 18.00.

This year’s exhibition, part of the Vizije so (Visions Are) series, is special as it focuses on the phenomenon of urban heat islands, particularly in Ljubljana, and explores the impacts of climate change on the urban environment. “Heat” is not just a weather phenomenon but a complex urban challenge that directly affects residents’ health, quality of life, and even the economic conditions of cities.

The exhibition is designed in a discursive format, emphasizing dialogues and actions, marking a significant departure from traditional, static presentations.

The main goal of this year’s exhibition is not only to emphasize the issue of heat islands, but also to create a hub of knowledge that will serve for further research and concrete actions.

In Ljubljana and for Ljubljana, a wealth of information and experience has already been collected by numerous institutions, educational establishments, associations, groups and individuals (Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning, University of Ljubljana, University of Maribor, Urban Municipality of Ljubljana, Institute for Spatial Policies, ZRC SAZU, Prostorož, members of Network for Space, and others), all of whom highlight the problem in question and actively engage with the challenge of urban warming.

The exhibition does not highlight only architectural solutions, but promotes a wholesome approach, that connects multiple fields – from urbanism, economy and sociology to medicine.

The project started in october with the installation of warning signs Vizije so 20: Pozor! Vroča točka! (Visions Are 20: Watch Out! Hot Spot!) in public spaces in the city center, where surfaces heat up significantly due to urban design and lack of greenery and shade. The aim is to raise awareness of the increasing risk of urban overheating caused by climate change and to encourage measures such as tree planting to create a more pleasant and cooler environment.

The core of the exhibition is an archive that collects research, data, and experiences on urban warming, which is continuously supplemented by contributions from experts and residents. Accompanying the exhibition are discussions on four themes: green spaces, water as a microclimate regulator, sustainable materials, and infrastructure, featuring questions and examples of good practices.

The exhibition also transitions into action through tree planting in public spaces, where visitors can adopt, plant, and document their own contribution. An interactive online map combines hot spots, heat islands, and newly planted trees, enabling planning and collaboration in cooling the city.
