Cankarjev dom

Cankarjev dom is the largest cultural and congress centre in Slovenia. It acts as an important and respected representative, messenger and mediator of Slovenian and foreign cultural and artistic exchanges. As a strong creative force it promotes and unites artistic and cultural events in the city. As the largest and most well-known event centre in Slovenia, it also develops and offers top-notch event management services.

CD’s cultural and artistic programme is conceived in a modern, relevant, research-oriented manner and at the highest level of implementation. Cankarjev dom hosts more than 1000 cultural and artistic events and over 200 congress events every year, and is visited by almost half a million visitors. Not only with an area of 36,000 square meters, but also in terms of the number of events and visitors, it is the largest cultural and congress centre in the region. It prides itself on exceptional acoustics, a large and technically versatile stage in the largest Gallus Hall, which also houses the organs, made in 1981 by the Berlin company Karl Schuke, which is responsible for a number of top-notch instruments, for example at the Frankfurt Alte Oper. The building of Cankarjev dom was designed by architect Edvard Ravnikar and was erected between 1977 and 1982. Today, Cankarjev dom is a monument-protected object.
