New headquarter for the company Solinair
For the airline Solinair, architects from the firm API designed a new hangar whose architectural and functional layout addresses the specific requirements of aviation operations, including large structural spans and the need for an efficient organization of work processes. Located at Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport in Brnik, the facility measures 47.7 by 68.7 meters and reaches a height of 24 meters.
The core of the facility is a spacious hangar dedicated to aircraft servicing and maintenance, complemented by auxiliary workshops and a complex of modern office spaces. This new infrastructure not only ensures optimal conditions for the company’s primary operations but also creates a high-quality support environment for its continued growth and development.

Alples was involved in the comprehensive furnishing of the office section of the facility, designing and executing the interior—ranging from workspaces for approximately 80 employees to communal and representative areas. These include a reception, a meeting room, a conference hall, a dining area, and a small kitchen. Building upon the architects’ conceptual proposal, Alples tailored the furnishings to the specific needs of the employees and the character of each individual space. To facilitate more effective communication among all stakeholders and provide a clearer vision of the final interior, they also produced 3D visualizations.
With over seven decades of experience and an extensive portfolio of completed projects, Alples offers a holistic approach to the design and execution of interior furnishings. Their expertise lies in developing solutions that combine functionality, aesthetics, technical precision, and the rational use of investment funds. In this process, every element—from the selection of materials and finishes to technical solutions—is aligned with the client’s requirements, the architectural concept, and applicable standards.

Materiality, Detail, and Interior Character
In furnishing the facility, Alples—in collaboration with the lead designer—utilized melamine-faced panels as the primary material, complemented by elements with a black-metal appearance. The interior is further defined by slatted wall paneling in a carefully selected color palette. Its texture introduces rhythm and dynamism to the space, while simultaneously creating a subtle interplay of light and shadow. Such deliberate accents soften the otherwise strictly functional nature of the environment, lending it a distinct visual character. The office design incorporates desks of varying dimensions—equipped with spacious drawer units—alongside additional cabinetry for storing office supplies and personal belongings. Rather than being treated merely as standalone functional pieces, individual elements are conceived as integral components of a cohesive spatial composition. Through thoughtful detailing, proportions, materials, and color combinations, each office functions as a complete, aesthetically harmonious whole.

Precision in Execution as the Foundation of Quality
Alples’ recipe for high-quality execution lies in well-coordinated processes. The company ensures that production schedules and dispatch timelines are perfectly aligned with the specific needs of the project site. For office furnishing projects, they provide the necessary certificates and official test reports (A-tests) required to obtain an occupancy permit. It is worth noting that Alples’ long-standing tradition, extensive experience, expertise, and in-house development capabilities allow them to offer every client the best possible balance between quality and price.
“Throughout the project, we meticulously manage both workshop and technical documentation—including detailed floor plans for specific room types, wall elevations, and cross-sections that incorporate electrical layouts. We coordinate these documents with the client on an ongoing basis, which ensures clear traceability when it comes to obtaining permits. Our carefully prepared plans—which are aligned with the original architectural designs as well as the mechanical and electrical installation plans—serve as a guide for coordinating with all other contractors on-site. This allows us to anticipate any necessary changes or adjustments well in advance. As the construction progresses, we proactively propose any required modifications, ensuring that the work carried out aligns seamlessly with the final interior design,” explains Primož Lušina, Director of Alples. In the Solinair project, architecture, interior design, and technical execution come together to form a cohesive whole that goes beyond the mere functional furnishing of a workspace. The new premises become a vital part of the company’s infrastructure—an environment whose thoughtful design supports daily operations, business development, and future growth.
