The Slovenian platform Landezine is the recipient of the IFLA Europe Award 2026

IFLA Europe, the European region of the International Federation of Landscape Architects, has awarded the IFLA Europe Award 2026, its highest honour, to Landezine, an international media platform based in Ljubljana. The association’s Executive Council reached the decision unanimously, recognising Landezine’s outstanding contribution to the promotion, visibility and international development of landscape architecture.

The IFLA Europe Award, established by the IFLA Europe General Assembly in 2014, is presented to individuals and organisations for outstanding contributions to landscape architecture and for strengthening the role of the profession in society. IFLA Europe brings together 34 national associations and represents nearly 20,000 landscape architects across Europe.

Previous recipients of the award include the European Environment Agency (EEA), Frans Timmermans, then Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for the European Green Deal, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and UNESCO. One award is presented each year.

Landezine is an international platform dedicated to landscape architecture, presenting projects by landscape architects and architects from around the world since 2009. With more than 5,000 visitors daily, it is now one of the most recognised and widely visited online platforms in the field of landscape architecture. Its content consists primarily of curated project selections that highlight different approaches, ideas and current practices in landscape design.

In 2016, Landezine established LILA – Landezine International Landscape Award, an international award aimed at recognising interesting, high-quality and progressive practices in landscape architecture. Robert Schäfer, long-time editor of Topos and Garten+Landschaft, has also made a significant contribution to the development of the platform and its international activities.

According to IFLA Europe, Landezine has become one of the world’s most influential and recognised platforms dedicated to landscape architecture. Through its publication of selected projects, critical reflections, interviews, research and other professional content, it contributes to a broader understanding of the importance of landscape architecture among professionals, decision-makers, students and the wider public.

In its citation, IFLA Europe also highlights Landezine’s international role in connecting landscape architects, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and ideas, and showcasing innovative and high-quality practices. An important part of the platform’s work is LILA – Landezine International Landscape Award, one of the prominent international awards in the field of landscape architecture.
