Cultural Heritage in the Crosswinds: Heritage, Interests, and the Image of Ljubljana
Co-Kreate Institute and PreLom invite you to a public forum on heritage, interests, and the image of Ljubljana, titled Cultural Heritage in the Crosswinds, taking place at Križanke on September 3 at 6 p.m.
In recent years, Ljubljana’s architectural heritage has increasingly become a site of conflict between preservation and development – from Križanke, the Central Market, and the Drama Theatre to Plečnik’s Stadium and post-war residential neighbourhoods.
What happens when modernization erases modernism? Who is heritage for, and who bears responsibility for its future?
At the public forum, residents and experts will discuss how to ensure that heritage preservation serves the city and its inhabitants, rather than merely the interests of capital.
“Come along, share your opinion, ask a question, and contribute to the discussion.”
With this in mind, they invite you to join them as a participant or listener, as they believe that a city works best when we shape it together.
The forum will also feature a new publication from the Mestna agora project, dedicated to the preservation of cultural heritage, which you will be able to take home with you.
The forum is organised in collaboration with the online newspaper PreLom, an independent Ljubljana news outlet, and the Secondary School of Design and Photography Ljubljana. The public forum is part of the Mestna agora project, co-funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.
