Projects of the Housing fund of the Republic of Slovenia, public fund in 2025

The Housing fund of the Republic of Slovenia, after the successful completion of the Podbreznik project in Novo mesto (Information about the Podbreznik project, Novo mesto), continues in 2025 with the active development of modern, quality, and sustainable housing solutions. Spatially and functionally well-thought-out projects and neighborhoods ensure quality living, accessibility, universal usability, and adhere to urban standards.
The Fund plays a key role in implementing housing policy in Slovenia. Its primary guideline is to provide affordable and quality housing for various social groups, with an emphasis on young people, young families, families, the elderly, and vulnerable groups of the population. Preparatory and implementation activities are being accelerated on 19 housing projects across the country, planned for execution from 2025 to 2029, which will result in nearly 2,000 new public rental housing units, including 162 publicly rented assisted living units.
Currently, 86 housing units are under construction in two buildings in the Partizan area in Jesenice, addressing the needs of modern families, and in the neighborhood along the Kobiljski Potok stream in Lendava (Phase 1). By the end of the year, construction is expected to begin in Lukovica for the acquisition of 82 housing units. Simultaneously, intensive activities are underway to obtain three comprehensive building permits for larger neighborhoods: Glince Podutik in Ljubljana, Ob Savi in Kranj, and Novo Pobrežje in Maribor.
In Celje, the Novi Trg neighborhood with 126 housing units is being designed. Building permits are expected by the end of the year, with construction starting in early 2026.
The Fund operates in several areas. One key activity is the provision of new public rental housing. Besides its own projects, the Fund has long collaborated with local communities (co-financing programs and land purchases for construction) and private investors (purchase of apartments).
The Housing Fund of the Republic of Slovenia remains a reliable actor in creating sustainable and affordable housing solutions that contribute to improving the quality of living and social cohesion.
