2026 Plečnik Awards

The Jože Plečnik Architect Fund will present the 2026 Plečnik Awards on Monday, 25 May 2026, at 7:30 p.m. in the garden of the Plečnik House.

The expert jury, composed of Andreas Ruby (chair), Blaž Budja, Mojca Gregorski, Uroš Rustja and Rok Žnidaršič, awarded this year’s honours in five categories: architectural realisation at a larger and smaller scale, public space, professional publishing, and enrichment of spatial culture. The awards include one Plečnik Award, four Plečnik Medals and one student scholarship.

The ceremonial event will open with a presentation of the project by last year’s scholarship recipient, Elvis Jerkić. This will be followed by speeches from the keynote speakers and the award ceremony for the most outstanding architectural achievements. As in previous years, the laureates will be presented on stage in film format, through the documentary film Zasuk, directed by Matevž Jerman, with Rok Kajzer Nagode as director of photography.

The awards will be presented by the chair of the jury, Andreas Ruby, in the pleasant and relaxed setting of the garden of the Plečnik House. In case of rain, the event will take place in the inner atrium of the City Museum. The keynote speaker will be Prof. Dr Renata Salecl. Guests and award recipients will also be addressed by Andreas Ruby, chair of this year’s jury, followed by a speech by Prof. Boštjan Vuga, president of the Management Board of the Jože Plečnik Architect Fund, and the public handover of the Fund’s leadership to the new president, Prof. Peter Gabrijelčič.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Rok Žnidaršič, Deputy Mayor of the City Municipality of Ljubljana, will invite all guests to the opening of the exhibition Artefacts on the first floor of the Plečnik House, followed by a relaxed garden reception and the traditional professional gathering of award recipients, architects, friends and supporters of architecture.

You are warmly invited to a two-day celebration of architecture, including the ceremonial presentation of this year’s Plečnik Awards and accompanying events, which will take place on 25 and 26 May 2026 at the Plečnik House and DESSA Gallery.
