Ravnikar’s Year: About the Exhibition KONS TR³, Construction of a New Era with Tina Potočnik – Podcast Odprto #31

In the year 2023, we commemorate the 30th anniversary of the death of architect Edvard Ravnikar. In response to the initiative from the Ministry of Culture, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia has declared this year as Ravnikar’s Year. On this occasion, various events, exhibitions, and roundtable discussions have taken place. We also wanted to bring the broad creative legacy of this important architect closer to the public, so we invited interesting guests for a discussion who have encountered his work in various ways.

The series of discussions in Ravnikar’s Year continues with Tina Potočnik. She is an art historian, a master of science in museology and conservation, and a doctor of architectural sciences. As a researcher, she operates in the fields of architectural history and immovable cultural heritage. In the past, she has been associated with the Institute of Art History France Stele of the ZRC SAZU. Tina Potočnik is a conservator at the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia, where she leads the Working Group for the Preservation of the Heritage of Architect Jože Plečnik. In the current year, she, along with her colleagues at Galerija TR3, conceptualized and curated the exhibition ‘KONS-TR3 Construction of a New Era,’ which thoroughly illuminated the development of the project for the construction of the Republic Square complex, focusing particularly on the TR3 Tower, where the exhibition was also held.

The exhibition presented a selection of early concepts that illustrated the challenges and considerations leading to the final design of a key architectural creation in Slovenian modernism. It highlighted the achievements of an interdisciplinary design team.
